"The Latest Greatest"

Lets see...we got a couple more nice donations (Thanks Ivan and Bill!).  And an idea I had about a week ago has been paying off...

As I was driving to church last Sunday, God dropped the idea of using the oil changes I've been doing as a fundraising source.  So the profits from them would go directly to the "Food to Venezuela" effort.  I thought "what a great idea!" and told some people about it that morning.

I hadn't done any oil changes for awhile (over a month, I'd guess) but that morning I picked up 2 and then later that day I got another one and on Monday was connected with 2 other people who needed an oil change!
At risk of making an environmentally iffy metaphor -  
Oil changes veritably raining from the sky!!
at least the text is green... lol
It seems that people like to donate to a good cause, especially if they can get something of value in return...besides the warm fuzzies...

Update on the latest shipment: It will arrive in Miami today and we're going to send one container of Ensure by air to expedite it and the other 5 containers (they sell in a box of 6) we'll send by ship since that is the least expensive.

Latest update...
just got a BIG donation (Thanks Brother!) and am about to order some stuff from the Walmart.com website.  Someone told me that if you order over $50, there is free shipping, which will eliminate the cost of sending to Miami.  As much as I despise Walmart, I have to say, God can even use the devil to do His will! lol

Denisse received the package yesterday morning! Thank God! She sent me a thank you note and an inventory of the box (just to make sure everything got thru).
And it all got through! 

I'm looking into an alternate method which will hopefully get Denisse and her family more food, etc for less money.
In the meantime, would you consider donating?

Food 2 Venezuela (kickoff!)

Hi, I'm Nathan and I have a friend in Caracas, Venezuela who needs food and medicine and basic stuff like that. 
Her name is Denisse (the lady in the middle) and she is on a very limited income and she has asked me if I could send food down there.  The country is experiencing hyperinflation and food shortages (among other things).
 I was going to send money, but apparently even with money, food and basics are very difficult to come by.  You have to wait in ridiculously long lines with no guarantee that they won't run out of whatever they're selling before you get to the counter.  She has a serious hip problem (numerous surgeries, etc) that precludes her from standing in line.
I'm beginning to send food, etc down there but it comes to about $120 for a 10 lb box.   I would like to be able to send a bigger box (and more often) than my own limited

funds will allow.  I'm looking for someplace more cost effective, but until I find one, this will have to do.
Every little bit helps!  5 bucks, 10 bucks, 20 bucks... Please donate as soon as possible! :)
100% will go to the cost of buying the food and shipping it to Caracas.
